Space Solutions supports award winning HQ for Cundall in Newcastle
- Date 11 May 2026
Space Solutions is celebrating the success of Cundall’s new global headquarters at Bank House, Newcastle, following recognition at the Insider North East Property Awards 2026.
Appointed as workplace consultants and designers on the project, Space Solutions worked closely with Cundall to deliver a workplace aligned to their vision for a biophilic, free flowing environment that supports wellbeing, inclusion and flexibility. Delivered on time and on budget, the fit out has transformed how staff experience their working day. Judges highlighted it as a standout project, noting its hospitality inspired approach and the way it prioritises a diverse range of staff led spaces over traditional desking.
Cundall’s new HQ blends hospitality, leisure and workplace design to create a nature rich, people focused environment within two thirds of the former footprint. Uniquely, the headquarters sits within a building Cundall designed themselves.
The design is centred around ‘The Park’, a flexible social hub featuring a waterfall, curved bar and immersive planting. This space anchors a zoning strategy that encourages movement through the floorplate, connecting areas for focused work, collaboration and quiet retreat, while maintaining a collegiate culture with no individual offices.
Only 30% of the floorplate is dedicated to desks. The remaining space includes The Park Café, a wellness room, social, collaborative and focus settings, alongside enclosed and semi-enclosed quiet spaces. Full 360-degree views across Newcastle allow daylight to be prioritised for work settings and key spaces such as the boardroom.
Biophilic principles underpin the entire workplace, with greenery, natural materials and enhanced daylight supporting air quality and contributing to cognitive and psychological wellbeing.
Sustainability and circularity were central to the project. Over 99% of surplus materials from the fit-out and relocation were recycled, with a focus on local suppliers and the reuse and upgrading of existing furniture. Energy efficient technologies and adaptable modular layouts further support long term performance.
Since completion, occupancy has increased by 25%, with employees reporting strong satisfaction with the variety of environments available. The new headquarters also contributes to Newcastle’s city centre regeneration.
Congratulations to Cundall and the full project team on this recognition.
