SPACE were appointed by Knight Property as project architect to design and deliver a new purpose built office and workshop facility on a greenfield site for Power Jacks at Unit 7 Arnhall Business Park, Westhill. The aesthetic aspiration with the development was to create a building that fitted with the existing commercial image of the area whilst making reference to the rural heritage of the site.
This design principle informed the feature entrance which is clad in a ceramic granite tile and the building has a very simple form with clean lines. The offices are designed as clear span with no internal columns and as such offer flexible open plan office space or commercial work-space.
The office fit out consisted of cellular and open plan spaces with collaboration and canteen areas and a contemporary reception space. As such, expertise from across Space Solutions was utilised to form a collaborative internal design team consisting of interior designers, space planners and technical designers to develop and deliver a design which met the client and tenants expectations and which was within budget.
SPACE were responsible for everything from the initial concept designs, preparing detailed planning stage drawings, applying for and obtaining planning permission, preparing detailed tender and building warrant stage drawings, apply for and obtaining building warrants through a staged application process, liaising with local authorities and overseeing the works on site along with working with other members of the design team and contractor from start to completion.
