Overview

Commercial Property developers, Knight Property Group, commissioned SPACE to undertake the space planning and fit out of 2 Castle Terrace.

The brief was to create a refined space which would attract high profile organisations to tenant the space. The design concept begun at street level, providing a journey that starts at the entrance, through the vestibule, reception, common areas and to the office openings and beyond.

Client aspiration was for the feel of the Georgian Suites to be mixed with contemporary style and design throughout the building.

Our Approach

The existing Georgian Feature was retained, such as panelled doors and wall panels

The size of the lobby was increased and a thermally broken glazed system was introduced to allow the general public to get a glimpse of the buildings identity. This also allows more room for movement

The internal lobby door provides the first glimpse of colour and feel to the overall scheme

Staying with the Georgian features, we propose reinstating the cornicing, architraves and skirting’s to this area alone in order to create a traditional Georgian grand reception with a modern contemporary twist

Using a modern mix of floor finishes will help the transition of staff and visitors through the space

The reception could be unmanned or with concierge services should this be required

A bright and invigorating light feature accompanied by a modern piece of furniture will give the space a modern, classic and fun feel. The purpose of which will excite future potential tenants of the space

Using a monochromatic colour palette throughout on the walls, floors, stairs and landings will give the building a modern and classical look. Injecting colour on doors and in window reveals will give floors an identity and the overall design an exciting contrast

Continuing the monochromatic, modern and classic theme into each suite allowed the developer to finish all common areas prior to tenants taking occupancy and allow suites to be attractive to potential occupiers and allow them to maximises the floor plate with their organisation requirements
