As a fast growing technology based company Journeycall had outgrown their premises at Laurencekirk and Brechin. The proposal was to relocate both sites to a 1900sqm portal frame shed in Arbroath which had sat empty for 10 years after being built as a speculative development. The brief was to fit out the Arbroath site to consolidate the business into a single facility and accommodate the predicted 30% growth over the next few years.
The new facility accommodates 200 staff. The main contact centre sits circa 140 staff supported by a management suite, training suites, staff break out areas and canteen. A full production area also administers and produces rail cards, Oyster travel cards etc for nationwide distribution.
The objective was to create a modern facility which reflected market leading presence through contemporary design. The challenge for the contact centre was to create a comfortably and relaxing staff focused workplace without any of the negative traditions associated with call centres. Desk areas are supported by break out and more relaxed working areas that step away from formal working. These spaces, meeting rooms & fabric screens carefully divide the space to reduce the scale of the contact centre. The dynamics of the clients company is reflected through the design. Movement and journey is conveyed through the shapes and angles of the partitions & layout. This continues through into the manifestations and floor finishes, bringing activity to the neutral palette.
